How We Started
The Women’s Council of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers was founded in 1971 at NAREB’s National Convention in Atlanta Georgia by Daisy Donovan (Michigan), Iris Yateman (Indiana) and Laura Seale (New York). Ms. Seale became the first president of the Women’s Council of NAREB.
The South Florida Board of Realtist Women’s Council was founded in 1996 by Ann John-Latimer and Maria Kong along with original board members Thelma Adams, Carrie Brown Horn, B J Smith and Rose Mincey.
The Women’s Council of SFBOR has consistently offered financial literacy education and counseling since its inception in 1996 but became dormant during Covid 19.
The Women’s Council was reinstated by President Alica Hayes in 2021 after the pandemic.
